WOW Holiday Guide Issue 8

I've had several conversations with people who are approaching the holidays differently this year, and a common desire was to only shop locally for holiday gifts. As a small business owner, this makes me warm and fuzzy. As a consumer, this motivated and inspired me to practice what I preach by extending Women owned Wednesdays to promote local small businesses owned by women! Every Wednesday will have multiple, women-owned businesses that you can learn about and support, and in the holiday spirit of giving we’ll have some epic giveaways for you!

My space is a place for women to come relax and walk out feeling grounded and centered.

Our building at 2711 Troost also houses a conscious collective of small business owners, artists and facilitators in healing arts and services. Our maxim is: Intention, Dedication, Kindness and a Will to Learn.

Favorite Holiday Tradition
-My favorite holiday tradition that relates to my business is to celebrate the Winter Solstice with a sound bath meditation. In my home, we purge 10 items/day in December. Most things are placed in the free box outside of our building or are donated to organizations like Amethyst Place. The rest are recycled.

Liz Martin

Favorite Holiday Wellness Routine
A few months ago I would have said “wine. Lots of it!” After years of pushing myself to work extreme hours, attend every holiday event for kids and etc, and have a glass or a bottle of wine to decompress each night, This year has taught me to slow down, and listen. This holiday season I am giving myself the gift of clarity, health and wellbeing. I stopped drinking almost a month ago. Something I never thought was possible. I needed to redefine my relationship with substances, and have a glass of wine to celebrate times, not to get through them. Doing this has been the best thing I could have ever done for myself, my family, and my business. It has made me eat better, exercise more, and has made me more mentally alert. I handle stress now with taking myself to the infrared sauna at Centered Spirit and doing a meditation while in there. I put my wetsuit on and go winter stand up paddleboarding, and I get on my Peloton on days I can’t make it to the water. It’s the best I have felt in a long time. My family is proud of me, but mostly I’m proud of me.

Jamie Middleton
The Hairparlour :

An intimate salon in the crossroads our priority is Clean, natural, slow beauty.

Favorite Holiday Wellness Routine
A fancy Christmas Eve lunch on the plaza and the Nutcracker.
